Getting on, getting old - get wise

Welcome to Bristol and District Retirement Council

Are you approaching retirement, or recently retired?

Perhaps you are leaving full or part-time employment and looking forward to more leisure time. Or maybe you intend to continue with some paid or voluntary work, start your own business or take-on family commitments.
Whatever your plans and individual circumstances, there will be a lot to think about:

  • What lifestyle do you hope for?
  • Can you afford it?
  • What state pension/ benefits will you be entitled to?
  • Will you miss the old routines and social side of work?
  • How will your family or friends be affected?
  • Are there new opportunities for leisure, education, volunteering etc?

To help you consider these and any other questions which you may have, why not come along to one of our pre-retirement courses, where you will gain information and advice from our expert speakers and meet others in a similar situation to yourself?

Age Advice - Concerned about getting old - don't be

Concerned about getting old - don't be

We can discuss any general worries that arise when someone is finding it more difficult to cope as they get older. Advisors can help people cope with loneliness, bereavement and illness or problems such as form completion, benefits, housing, finance or family relationships.

We can offer impartial advice and information as well as someone with whom to share a problem.

We aim to provide whatever it takes, to support and enable clients to live within the comfort, safety and familiarity of their own homes.

If you have something you would like to discuss, why not telephone or e-mail us? You may be concerned about a relative or a friend who is elderly. We might be able to help you too. We will arrange for one of our Advisors to see you either at home or in our office.  If we do not know the answer we will help by putting you in touch with someone who does.
